The Ohio Department of Health has issued an advisory about high E. coli levels for Acton Lake at Hueston Woods State Park. Advisories are issued when the amount of bacteria in the water reaches unsafe levels, meaning that those swimming face a risk of getting sick.

The former director of Tarrant County Public Health has been hired to lead El Paso’s health department, the city announced Friday.

The City of El Paso announced the appointment of a new director of the Department of Public Health on Friday, June 21. The City says Veerinder “Vinny” Taneja, MBBS, MPH will be the new director of the Department of Public Health which will be effective this August.

Public Health officials have added two other locations to the list of Los Angeles County beaches affected by high levels of bacteria. The entire swim area of Escondido Creek at Escondido State Beach and Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro are considered dangerous until further notice,

Officials say people who enter the ocean at certain beaches during this period could become ill, especially children, elderly, and the immunocompromised.
