As the actress appeared on the talk show to promote her final turn as Elphaba Thropp opposite Ariana Grande 's Glinda in the new Broadway adaptation Wicked: For Good, she and the cohosts melted into a pool of tears, just like her Wicked witch character.
"Wicked: For Good," the long-awaited sequel to 2024's "Wicked," picks up a year after the events of the first film. Erivo's Elphaba has embraced her reputation as a "Wicked Witch," while her best friend Glinda — played by Grande — has taken up the mantle of the "Good Witch," serving as a figurehead to lift Ozians' spirits.
Wicked: For Good, the second part of the Wicked film that released last year, hits theaters today, Friday, Nov. 21. Alongside the box office release, both Erivo and Ariana Grande—who play Elphaba and Glinda in the film—opened up about what being in this project has meant to them.
Erivo also responded with delight when Seth Meyers asked her about becoming a Halloween costume meme on Thursday night (Nov. 20).
