Chrysler's slant six engine first appeared in the 1960 Plymouth Valiant and would stick around for nearly three decades. It's time to rank them all.
In the 1960s, two straight-six engines were pitted head-to-head: The Chrysler Slant-6 and AMC Inline-6. Both sold well, but which is the best overall?
This 1972 Plymouth Duster has the workhorse Slant Six 225-cube in it, churning 110 hp and 185 lb-ft (112 PS, 251 Nm) for that trusty three-speed TorqueFlite auto transmission.
Lastly, it’s time to talk about the engine. Gone is this Duster’s original 225 ci (3.7L) slant-six unit, replaced by a 5.7-liter V8, fitted with an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger.
If a report at Allpar can be believed, it could be an upcoming Fiat Chrysler inline-six. Slant-6 fans (and we know you’re out there reading this), rejoice!
