Domination met alarming turnovers. Despite a historic blowout, Alabama's passing game and special teams revealed crucial flaws before their Auburn showdown.

Alabama football was looking to get many of its backups in against Eastern Illinois. The quarterback position was no exception. Ty Simpson played the entire first half, finishing the game 11-for-16 passing with 147 yards and two interceptions. The rest of the way, Alabama’s backups got reps, mostly Austin Mack and Keelon Russell.

Illinois may have fallen to Alabama on Wednesday, but there were still positives to be gleaned from the outing ... as well as plenty of negatives to go around

Free throws were not the only reason Illinois lost to Alabama, but they were the loudest. A 4-point loss with 9 missed freebies will haunt any fan who watched that game, especially in an atmosphere as incredible as the UC crowd.
