The Boston Red Sox continue to add more depth throughout the organization and made a trade with the New York Mets.

The Red Sox announced that the team has acquired infielder Zack Short in trade with Mets for cash considerations.

Injuries continue to pile up for the Boston Red Sox as the team placed designated hitter Masataka Yoshida on the injured list prior to Wednesday's game. Yoshida jammed his hand Sunday and becomes the 13th Red Sox player to hit the IL this season.

In a cruel twist, catcher Tyler Heineman was placed on the 10-day injured list just two days after being called up for Casas due to a hamstring injury. At the time of his call-up, Heineman was the last available position player the Red Sox could call up from their 40-man, showing just how injured they were in the opening weeks of the season.

Boston Red Sox DH Masataka Yoshida will be placed on the injured list, Manager Alex Cora said during his weekly appearance on WEEI’s Jones & Mego show. Yoshida was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Wednesday after seeing a hand specialist.
