The 28-year-old, three-time All-Star has been out of the Astros' batting lineup since May 2 after sustaining a fractured right hand. Although Alvarez still has no timetable for his return while undergoing rehab for the injury, Houston was able to provide an update on Thursday.

Alvarez first experienced issues with his hand in late April but stayed in the lineup. He was initially diagnosed with a muscle strain but a small fracture was discovered at the end of May.

Yordan Alvarez received two injections in his injured hand and will be shut down from baseball activities for "the upcoming days."
