The Kansas City Chiefs’ closely contested 22-19 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday dropped the team’s record to 5-5, keeping the team outside of the AFC playoff picture and giving Denver firm control of the AFC West.

The Denver Broncos made seven selections in the 2025 NFL draft and have had mixed results from these rookies through 11 games. While there is still plenty of time left, and no rookie has spent enough time in the NFL to be labeled a bust, some have done better than others.

For the second day in a row, the Denver Broncos have had a sensible free-agent signing potentially smack them right in the face. Ahead of their game on Thursday Night Football, the Texans released running back Dameon Pierce.

In Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs rookie CB Nohl Williams played a career-high 44 defensive snaps. In Week 11 against the Denver Broncos, he was relegated to special teams work with no snaps on defense.

After failing to find a trade partner for wide receiver Brandin Cooks ahead of the deadline earlier this month, the New Orleans Saints (2-8) have agreed to cut him, allowing him to seek a new club. Cooks will now hit the NFL's waiver wire, but if a team claims him, they'll pick up the $5.94 million he's due in 2026.

There are really only two things pretty about the Denver Broncos this year: their defense and their record. They're on pace for an NFL-record 76 sacks and are so deep on defense that they've withstood the absences of Pat Surtain II and Dre Greenlaw for long stretches and they sit atop the AFC at 9-2 heading into their Week 12 bye.

After beating division rival Kansas City, 22-19, at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday, Denver is 9-2 with a two-game lead over the Chargers for first place in the AFC West. The Broncos are also currently the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
