The Starbucks union says its strike has expanded to over 30 locations throughout the country, with the latest work stoppage hitting a store in Albany, NY, days after after New York City’s socialist Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani called for a boycott of the chain.

More than 1,000 unionized Starbucks workers are on strike Thursday at 65 U.S. stores. The strike has closed some stores on Starbucks’ Red Cup Day, which is typically one of the company’s busiest days of the year.

New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani publicly announced he is boycotting Starbucks and asking others to join him while baristas across the country continue their open-ended strike. Mamdani made his stance clear on Nov. 14 in a post on X.
