The New York Yankees moved Jazz Chisholm Jr. back to second base and, as a result, DJ LeMahieu to the bench. He is not pleased with the move.

The New York Yankees benched DJ LeMahieu on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, they shockingly designated him for assignment. Aaron Boone revealed what the plan at third base will be moving forward.

One day after Aaron Boone declared DJ LeMahieu “a bat off the bench” and physically challenged by the third base position, the Yankees designated the two-time batting champ for assignment. The team announced the decision on Wednesday. The Yankees still owe LeMahieu, 36, about $22 million.

The club will owe LeMahieu about $22 million, which includes the rest of his $15 million salary this season, along with $15 million in 2026.

It does not sound as if anything is necessarily imminent in terms of Jazz Chisholm Jr. moving back to second base and DJ LeMahieu shifting to third.

On Wednesday, the Yankees designated DJ LeMahieu for assignment even though they still owe him approximately $22 million through next season.

Aaron Boone announced that LeMahieu is no longer viewed as an everyday player. The veteran was not pleased about the change.
