Tesla sales through June fell 13% to some 720,000 vehicles—but volumes for BYD of China soared 41% to crack the 1 million vehicle mark already halfway through the year.

Tesla (TSLA) released its Q2 deliveries and production numbers on Wednesday, July 2. The deliveries, which closely approximate vehicle sales fell 13.5% year-over-year. The decline was higher than the 13% fall in Q1 and was the worst ever for the company.

Tesla's second-quarter sales of 384,000 units, despite a 13.5% year-over-year decline, have been met with unexpected optimism in the market. Business Insider reported on Wednesday that Tesla's stock climbed 4.

Production of its other models amounted to 13,409 units in total, a 44.7 percent drop compared to the same three months last year, but the total production numbers for Q2 2024 (410,831) and Q2 2025 (410,244) are almost identical.

According to Tesla's official numbers, it delivered 384,122 vehicles in Q2, a roughly 14% drop compared to the 443,956 vehicles it delivered in Q2 2024. That's also about 18% lower than the 466,140 deliveries we saw in Q2 2023.
